Ken GibsonKen should have been attending the Cotswolds this year but on December 21st 2023 he suffered a massive heat attack and has been on Life Support in Intensive Care since then. Ken was given less than 10% chance of survival but those who have played against him will know he never gives up on a losing position. In this the week of the Cotswolds, Ken has finally emerged from Intensive Care and even though he still has a long road to recovery, we can all feel a little more positive about his prospects and even look forward to him attending next year.
24th-26th January 2025By popular demand, The Bear of Rodborough Hotel has once again been selected for this innovative event.
This weekend away will be as inviting to long suffering, non-playing partners as it is to the Backgammon players themselves. The new 40-player tournament format will provide plenty of Backgammon action for all players throughout both days, making it attractive to experts and novices alike. Free Yoga classes for all, local walks and an abundance of neighbouring places of interest will make this a weekend away that you really can bring your non-playing family and friends to. |
Ken's daughter Cassia will be running a half-marathon to raise funds for the Intensive Care Unit that has nursed her father back to life. Please feel free to add your support for what will be a very emotional life experience for this young lady and to send a message to Ken that the BG Community is rallying behind him. Free YogaAre you a Backgammon player with bad posture, a stiff back and aching shoulders made worse from spending too many hours hunched over a board?
Are you a Backgammon Widow(er), fed up that you are the one left at home whilst your BG-playing partner swans off again for another weekend away? |
The Bear of Rodborough.A delightful hotel venue sandwiched between Rodborough & Minchinhampton Commons in the Cotswolds. This tournament with its lovely local walks is, without doubt, the most picturesque setting to play Backgammon in the UK. It is no wonder so many players have this returning annual event down as one of their favourite ever Backgammon weekends.
