The Cotswolds Invitational Format - Under Construction
New format for 2020 to be published in due course
The Cotswolds Invitational is increased to forty players in 2020 and will consist of a Swiss Qualifying Stage and a Final Stage.
The details show below are for a 32-player format. As soon as 32 players are registered and it looks like we will have forty players - details of the Swiss Qualification will be posted. The Finals Stages on the Sunday will remain broadly similiar. Group Stage - if 32 playersSaturday will be the Group Stage. There will be 8 Groups (A-H) of four players. Each Group of 4 players, sat on the same long table, will play a Round Robin. Each player will play three x 11-point matches in total throughout the day. Each match win is worth one Group Point. There are no Group Points for losing a match.
The 1 Pt Play-Off: All three players roll four dice, the two highest rollers play a one-point match. The winner of this one-point match stays on to play the other player and so on. The first player to win two one-point matches in a row finishes as the top player of the three. The remaining two players play a one-pointer to see who finishes second. |
Finals Stage - Main and ConsolationOn Sunday, the seeded draw in the 16-player Main Final Stage mean that first placed finishers in Saturday's Groups will play second placed finishers in a different Group. This will be a straight 11-point Knock Out of four rounds.
Likewise, third-placed finishers in Saturday's Groups will play fourth placed finishers in different Groups in the 16-player Consolation Final Stage. This will be a straight 9-point Knock Out of four rounds. |
Last ChanceThe first round losers in Sundays Final Stages & Consolation will play in the 16-player 5-point Last Chance Knock Out. 8 players from the Main and 8 players from the Consolation will be drawn against each other.
Players knocked out of the later rounds of the Main and Consolation Final Stages will not be allowed to enter the Last Chance but Mini-Jackpots will be run throughout the afternoon according to demand. |
Three Point Shootout
Starting at 2.30pm on Sunday for all the Last Chance 1st Round losers who will be matched against Main & Consolation Quarer-Finalists
UKBGF Rules Apply
- UKBGF Rules can be found here.
- Clock Preference rules apply. That is a player may insist that the match is played using a game clock (provided that one is readily available).
- The two players in the last match to finish in each round may be put on the clock in the following round by the Tournament Director, Dicky Biddle. This has the general effect of keeping play moving throughout the tournament and less waiting time for everyone.
- Don't panic if you have never used a clock before. It is easy and you have plenty of time to practice between now and then. You are welcome to borrow my clock at any Fulham, BucksGammon or North London events.
Format subject to change should actual number of players differ from expectations
